Minimally Invasive Procedures:

Endometrial Ablation

Dare to wear white… Imagine freedom from heavy monthly bleeding? An alternative to hormones or hysterectomy. In about 90 seconds you can permanently reduce or eliminate a messy period. Click here to learn more about Endometrial Ablation Treatment for Heavy Periods

Non Surgical Permanent Birth Control (Essure)

Imagine Never Worrying About Birth Control Again…

Surprisingly despite all the available methods of contraception, over half the pregnancies conceived in the United States are unplanned, this includes women over the age of 40 who falsely believe they cannot get pregnant. Even when used correctly birth control pills fail 5% and condoms 15%, per year. Are you comfortable with this risk of having an unplanned pregnancy? If you or someone you know has completed their family and is considering a form of permanent birth control, such as tubal ligation or a partner’s vasectomy, let us educate you about Non-Surgical Permanent Birth Control. Abnormal PAP (Cervical Dysplasia)

LEEP Procedure Removes Pre-Cancer on Abnormal PAP Smears: In minutes, we can remove pre cancerous lesions from your cervix. The LEEP procedure replaces the traditional cone biopsy, shaving the abnormal tissues away. Over 90% of patients are cured in a single treatment. Click here to learn more about the LEEP procedure

Hysteroscopic Myomectomy (morcellation)

The causes of abnormal uterine bleeding (prolonged or excessive bleeding, as well as bleeding between periods) vary and commonly include endometrial polyps or uterine fibroids. Endometrial polyps are growths extending from the lining of the inside cavity of the uterus. If these growths project into the uterine cavity then they may be removed with a hysteroscope (the insertion of a small scope through the cervical opening into the uterine cavity). Dilation & Curettage (better known as a D&C) has been shown to miss removal of lesions. Hysteroscopy is the preferred method as it allows visualization and targeted removal: via grasper for small polyps, hot-wire cutting resection loop or morcellation for fibroids. Morcellation uses an instrument inserted through the hysteroscope that rapidly shaves away growths. Since the system does not use heat it minimizes damage to the inner lining of the uterus, which helps preserve the chances of pregnancy in the future. This device also shortens operative time and enhances safety. Click here to learn more about Hysteroscopic Myomectomy (morcellation)

Mesh Augmented Vaginal Reconstruction – Pelvic Organ Prolapse

Unfortunately traditional surgery for pelvic organ prolapse has a high failure rate for more moderate to severe cases. This is probably because pulling poor quality tissue together is predisposed to fail once again. The use of mesh “hammocks” dramatically improves the success rates and durability of these repairs. General surgeons learned this lesson two decades ago with repair of groin hernias, where use of mesh has become the standard of care. Dr. Scott Kramer was one of the first to use these advanced techniques in our community over eight years ago. With the newer minimally invasive treatments, surgery time is reduced, and most women experience less pain and more rapid return to regular activities. Urethral Sling (TVT) Regain Bladder Control with Urethral Sling

No more pads… Urethral Sling Cures Incontinence: For over 15 years, this revolutionary procedure restores bladder control for women who lose urine when they cough or exercise. A thin ribbon lifts the urethra, restoring it to a normal position during this 15 minute procedure. Over 85% of women report significant improvement, regaining bladder control and freedom to enjoy their active lives in just a few days. Long Acting Reversible Contraception – Highly Effective, Reversible Contraception Mirena IUD

Many women are surprised to learn that condoms or birth control pills can fail, resulting in unplanned pregnancies. Intra-uterine devices (IUD) offer women greater protection, over 99% effectiveness. In addition, women choosing the Mirena® IUD also appreciate much lighter menstrual periods. Click here to learn more about Mirena IUD Reversible Contraception

Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy (LSH)

When a problem such as fibroids requires the removal of your uterus, having it done with a scope through button hole size incisions makes for a less painful, rapid recovery. Your cervix and ovaries are preserved, maintaining normal hormone and sexual function.

The newest, called Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy (LSH), is truly redefining hysterectomy. Few surgeons are trained to perform this advanced procedure. In fact the Dr. Scott Kramer was among the first to perform LSH in the Bay Area and continues as one of the most experienced surgeons. LSH is a partial hysterectomy that preserves your cervix, and often your ovaries, removing only the diseased uterus. Click here to learn more about Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy
